Why Easter Matters and is More Than Bunnies and Bonnets

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
— Romans 6:8-11

I hemmed and hawed over what I should write to you today during Holy Week because Easter is often overrun by bunnies, egg hunts, and candy. Those things can be fun, don't get me wrong! But my prayer is that we focus on the *right* thing.

Let’s take a step back and remember the beauty of Christ today.

This is when we remember, reflect, and rejoice over the events that took place leading up to Resurrection Sunday. Romans 5 says “while we are still sinners, Christ died for us”

Our Jesus is SO MUCH BIGGER than death.

What looked like defeat and death on a Friday, days later turned into the greatest praise party and victory the world has ever seen.

Romans 6.4  reads “Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

I could write words to fill the spaces in our heart today. But rather than my thoughts, I want you to take intentional time to connect with Him, I believe He’ll meet you there. In today's devotional take ten minutes and prayerfully worship and reflect on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Grab a journal and reflect on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and what it means to you personally.

Thank Christ for his powerful life, death, and resurrection.

God is at work all around us (and in us), don't miss it!
