I'm not talking about the "someone stole my credit card" kind. But the personal, spiritual, "I don't know who I am" kind of identity theft.
Have you been there?
I have.
Whether we care to realize it or not, labels create our identity. They can come from ourselves, the world or God. In my college years, I was stuck in depression and struggled through understanding my value. I was a Christian but lost site of my identity in Christ. I held on to these hurtful labels that I'd put on myself and I let heartache determine my worth.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in sin, shame or guilt and that becomes who we are.
Our identity is not our sin,
struggles,
poor health,
self-perceived rights,
rejections
or limitations.
Our identity is not
our purpose,
achievements,
fancy clothes,
or the low-blows.
Our identity is our Savior.

I eventually grew tired of being stuck in an unhealthy pattern of thought so began renewing my mind. God transformed me from the inside out and I found some truths that stuck.
When we can see ourselves through God's eyes we start to live "He-Focused" instead of "Me-focused".
Below are 20 powerful scriptures about who God says we are. My prayer for us is that we can walk in freedom and wholeness and not lose sight of who we as Christians, are destined to be.
