How to Trust God in a Season of Waiting

This technology-driven world tricks us into believing we can get whatever we want, whenever we want it.

  • Did you just take an unflattering photo of yourself? There’s an app to drop those pounds and smooth your skin.

  • At the most magical place on the earth? Use the Fastpass and experience it even faster.

  • Need a date? Swipe right.

Things are just a click and delivery truck away.… except patience.

What happens when it seems culturally abnormal to be in a season of waiting?

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
— Psalm 27:14

What does a season of waiting look like?

Moses is a great example of having to wait for God’s promises to come to pass. He was called to free the Israelites out of Egypt.

As Moses eventually responded to the call. god gave direction…

  • over his excuses,

  • over his insecurity,

  • over his objections,

  • over the physical directions,

  • and over time.

Do you think Moses knew what it actually looked like to lead the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt? 40 years.

This historical and Biblical act of obedience led to a journey of plagues and obstacles, but was also one with over 30 miracles. Through it God provided provision, power and freedom.

In the wandering in the wilderness and the what-ifs in the waiting, God is still working and within reach.
You can’t manifest movement or momentum. I mean, you can…. But you’ll get burnt out and bitter REAL fast as you try to maintain control.

I think our instant gratification culture doesn’t know what to do in the waiting.

I’m glad we can look through a Gospel-centered lens to learn how to wait from a healthy space. You aren’t Moses, but how can we apply this part of his journey to our own story? After leading the Israelites out of Egypt and 40 years of wandering around the desert, God continued to give Moses a perspective shift off of himself and onto a Holy God.

It’s the strength we have IN JESUS that produces endurance as He orchestrates the next steps we take.

Maybe you’re in a pitstop towards the promises God has for you.
Let your heart take courage.

In the wandering in the wilderness and the what-ifs in the waiting, God is still working and within reach.

When you look to Christ in a season of pause, there’s a perspective shift that happens. Moses freed the Israelites and died just reach of the Promise Land.

Remember in a season of wilderness or waiting, it won’t always manifest the way you think. We get to cling to hope, and His name is Christ.

  • Are you waiting for your family to expand? Look to Jesus.

  • Wanting to step into ministry full time? Look to Jesus.

  • Waiting to overcome health obstacles and be healed? Look to Jesus.

It’s from this healthy place in the waiting our endurance strengthens and our perspective shifts onto a Holy one. From our reliance on Christ, we learn how to navigate the what-ifs and what’s next. He says “move”; and we go. He says “wait”; and we do.

Christ will sustain you. I believe there’s promise over your life, although it may not always manifest the way you imagine, He’s orchestrating something beautiful. You’re not alone in the waiting.

In the wandering in the wilderness and the what-ifs in the waiting, God is still working and within reach.
Wait are you waiting for? Wait with the Lord.
